DESCRIPTIVE TEXT
Hai everyone, back again with me in this blog, so today I wanna tell you about the one of amazing famous historical place in Indonesia. Yes, Prambanan temple 🔥
Prambanan is a magnificent spectacle and an icon of Indonesia’s cultural heritage. The temples at Prambanan were built in the 9th century and is known locally as Roro Jonggrang, coming from the legend of the ‘slender virgin'
The tallest temple of Prambanan is a staggering 47 meters high. It's peak visible from far away and rises high above the ruins of the other temples. And it is estimated that there are 240 large and small temples in the Prambanan temple complex. However, only 18 temples have been restored, the rest are scattered piles of stones.
The biggest temple is dedicated to Shiva, the destroyer, and the two smaller ones which sit on its right and left are dedicated to Brahma, the creator and Wisnhu, the sustainer.
The Shiva Temple in the middle, has 5 rooms: east, south, west, north, and a main room in the middle of the temple. The eastern room is connected to the main room which contains a 3 meter high statue of Shiva Mahadeva. The north room contains a statue of Durga Mahisasuramardini, Shiva's wife. This Durga statue is what is known as Roro Jonggrang in local legends.
After hundreds of years of neglect, the Prambanan temple was rediscovered by CA Lons, a Dutchman, in 1733. Since then, this temple has been revitalized and today is widely regarded as the most beautiful and graceful Hindu temple in Indonesia. The grandeur, complexity, and integrated architectural concept of Prambanan makes this a truly amazing structure. As a unique cultural and architectural marvel, Prambanan was declared a World Heritage site in 1991 by UNESCO.
Actually, I've been to Prambanan temple twice. The first time I was a child with my family and the second during a study tour from my junior high school. In a both times, I was not satisfied to see this temple because at the first time I was very little and the second time was very limited because it was a study tour. So I really hope to visit this fabulous temple again and enjoy the beauty ❣
